St. Anthony High School Student-Athletes Sign Commitment Letters to National Universities

Long Beach, CA - St. Anthony High School students signed national letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level: Tayler Bennett will be playing basketball for Rice University, Tiara Scott will be playing basketball for Sacramento State University, Michelle Golison will compete in gymnastics for Utah State University, Holly Buschelman will be playing soccer for Lesley University, Jocelyn Bonney will compete in triathlons for Queens University of Charlotte, Angelica Ponce will be playing softball for Mercer University, Amanda McCalip will be playing softball for the University of Houston-Victoria.

All of the girls expressed how welcoming their respective future coaches and teammates were and how excited they are to begin their college career.  At the same time, they conveyed much gratitude for the education at St. Anthony High School that prepared them not only athletically, but also academically for the university level.  “Rice University is highly academic, and I’m thankful I had great teachers to help me achieve the grades and scores I needed to be accepted,” said Tayler Bennett.  Rice University is one of the top 20 universities in the nation according to the US News and World Report.

St. Anthony High School’s unique iPad Program benefitted Jocelyn Bonney immensely, who constantly travels the country to participate in multiple triathlons.  “The iPad allowed me to keep up with all of my work while I competed nationally,” said Jocelyn.  “Receiving a high school education would not have been possible without St. Anthony High School’s support.”  Jocelyn recently won the Long Beach Triathlon.
