SAHS Launches Partnership with LBCC Drama/Theatre Dept.

Dear Current & Potential Drama/Theatre Parents/Students,

I am very excited to make a major announcement regarding the future of SAHS Drama/Theatre.

Last week, with the help of the President of Long Beach City College, I was able to have a high-level meeting with Greg Mortensen, Head of LBCC Theatre, Dance, and Film Department.

Following this meeting, an exclusive partnership between SAHS and LBCC was formed and a new-era for SAHS Theatre has begun. This is a very significant moment for the present and future of Theatre Arts which provide amazing and unique opportunities for our students.

Highlights:

• LBCC will manage, run, organize, teach, direct all aspects of the SAHS Theatre Dept.
• Greg Mortensen, himself, will be the director for SAHS productions
• SAHS students will practice and rehearse at LBCC using their facilities and instructors
SAHS students will receive college units for their involvement
• SAHS students will also “intern” and have the opportunity to assist with LBCC productions
• Sets, props, costumes will be provided by LBCC for SAHS productions
• SAHS productions will have the use of LBCC theater space for rehearsal and productions
• SAHS students who do not wish to “perform” can still be involved in backstage, lighting, sound, etc. as part of the program
• SAHS will be the only high school in the area with such a partnership

Special Information meeting next Wednesday, June 20, at 6:30pm in our Fr. Caruso Library
The 7th street gate will be open for parking in the courtyard.
All current and new students/parents are invited.

I hope to see you there!
