The Saints’ Bodnar will compete for Division 1 St. Bonaventure in New York beginning next year, signing with the university recently.
Bodnar also considered Rider University, South Dakota State, and Marist College. After a recruiting trip to St. Bonaventure in the Fall of 2011, and meeting with Bonaventure head dive coach Stephanie O'Callaghan, Bodnar was impressed by the school and the program and decided to become a St. Bonaventure Bonnie.
Bodnar is a three time CIF-SS Division champion (Div 4 2009 and 2010 and Div 3 in 2011), hoping to repeat his championship status at the CIF Division 3 Championship meet next week in Riverside. He has had a stunning high school season this year, placing either 1st or 2nd in each of his six invitational meets. He is also a NISCA High School All-American (2010) and was recently inducted as the first diver into the Lakewood Youth Sports Hall of Fame.
As a McCormick Diver Club diver, he is a seven time AAU National All-American, a four time SPA Diver of the year, and a four time Regional Champion. St. Anthony High School and McCormick Divers are both proud of his accomplishments in both high school and club diving and wish him the best of luck at St. Bonaventure.
Nyko has been guided by his McCormick Divers club coaches Charly Collins and Debby McCormick.
