Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarships: For high school seniors with at least one parent of Asian-Pacific, African-American or Black Caribbean, Hispanic descent, minimum GPA of 2.7, residing in Los Angeles or Orange county, and attending a 2 yr or 4 yr college/university. College of Idaho Visionary Scholars Program: $10,000 renewable scholarship. For high school seniors with 3.0+ cumulative GPA, 1030 SAT composite score for MA and CR, residing in CA, and must submit additional essay. Deadline for application submission: February 1, 2012. Best Buy Scholarship Program: 1200 scholarships of $1,000 each available for students from 9th through 12th grades. Students need to have solid grades plus community service or work experience. Deadline: February 15, 2012. Apply at: www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com.
 
Mahatma Rice/Univision Radio Scholarship Program: For high school seniors residing in Los Angeles or Orange county. Must write essay of 150 to 250 words on the topic “How do I believe my studies in college will change my life?” Deadline for submission is February 15, 2012. Playing with Purpose Award: $12,700 of scholarships available to Christian student athletes. Open to sophomores, juniors, seniors with a minimum “C” grade average, currently playing at varsity level. Deadline to apply: March 1, 2012. Go to: www.playingwithpurpose.org for more info/app.
 
Asian Pacific Fund Scholarship: $1,000 - $20,000 renewable scholarships. For high school seniors attending a four-year college. Available to students of any ethnic background, pursuing a career in engineering, journalism, business or healthcare, residing in Southern California, first generation college student.

California State University, Fullerton- Must be first time freshman or first time transfer student attending CSU Fullerton in fall 2012. Must have earned at least 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need, applied for financial aid and have shown evidence of significant contribution to school and/or community. Open to anyone regardless of Residency status. See Ms Rodriguez in Counseling Center.
 
JUST ADDED……
Port of Long Beach Scholarship: $1,000 - $8,000 over four years. Must be a high school senior at a public or private high school within the Long Beach Unified School District’s service area, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, enroll full-time at an accredited college, university, or community or tech/vocational school, plan to major in a field related to international trade, goods movement or other port-related industries, such as international business, engineering, environmental science, security or maritime law. Application must be postmarked by Friday, March 2, 2012. Pick up application in Counseling Center.
 
Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG): Students must be a resident within the LA, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial, Ventura counties, enrolled as a high school JUNIOR or SENIOR, have a GPA of at least 3.0, and be eligible to work in the United States. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 9, 2012, and are available on website at: www.scag.ca.gov/scholarship.
 
Italian Catholic Federation: $400 scholarship. Open to seniors of Italian descent with a cumulative GPA of 3.2+, and Roman Catholic. Application due by: March 15, 2012. Go to: www.icf.org to apply.
 
Rider University Scholarships: Varies from $7,000 - $19,000 per year. Minimum GPA of 3.0+, SAT of 1000 – 1250 for MA and CR, or ACT 21 – 28 composite score, apply to Rider University. Visit website at: www.rider.edu.
