SA ATHLETIC DEPT. UPDATES LETTERMAN JACKET GUIDELINES

 

The earning of a high school Varsity Letter should be one of the proudest moments a high school athlete has as a student. The wearing of the St. Anthony Varsity letter should be a symbol of both pride and responsibility. Wherever you wear it, people will know that you are an athlete, what sport you play, and that you are a representative of St. Anthony. Recently, athletes have started to create SA letterman jackets in different colors and styles that are not acceptable for our school. With that in mind, the following are the standards for athletic jackets and letters for the St. Anthony High School Athletic Program.

 

1. The St. Anthony Varsity jacket will be a purple jacket with white sleeves. The knit ribbing on the jacket will be purple with white trim. No other color is acceptable for the St. Anthony Varsity jacket if it is to be worn on campus with a SA Varsity Letter sewn on it.

 

2. The St. Anthony Varsity letter is to be secured on the left hand side of the jacket. Numerals showing the graduating year are to be sewn on the left sleeve and are to be 3” tall.

 

3. If you want to put your jersey number/identification number/event description on your jacket would be placed on the right side using 3” tall letters or numbers.

 

4. All letter awards in athletics will be “earned”. Letter awards can only be earned by participating in varsity contests. In order for a player to letter, minimum standards and requirements must be met.

 

5. A Letter will be awarded to each athlete the first year he/she earns a Letter. SA Letters may be picked up in the Athletic Director’s office following the season of sport in which the athlete lettered.

 

6. Students are responsible for purchasing the individual sport insignia for their first year. Each subsequent year that the athlete Letters he/she may add a bar next to the sport insignia. These must also be purchased by the athlete.

 

7. There shall be a certificate awarded to any athlete for participating on a freshman or a junior varsity team. Letters are reserved for Varsity sports only.
