The annual Baccalaureate Mass was held in St. Anthony Church on Friday evening, June 4. Musical accompaniment was provided by the SAHS Choir under the direction of Mr. Sam Torres assisted by Mr. Mike Lloyd. Senior Chris Bentajado received the esteemed Los Angeles Archdiocese’ Award for Christian Service at the conclusion of the Mass.
On Saturday morning the class of 2010 entered an Errion Memorial Gymnasium that was overflowing in enthusiasm and crowd size. Our Saints’ Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Mike Lloyd, provided great entertainment prior to the start of the ceremony. Following the graduates in procession were members of the SAHS Class of 1960 as they celebrate their 50th Jubilee.
Senior Breana Panaguiton sang the National Anthem for the last time as a SA student. Fr. Jim Halley, newly named pastor of nearby St. Joseph Parish, provided the Invocation. President Gina Maguire’s (SAHS ’67) remarks were followed by the keynote speaker, Ken Miller from the SA Class of 1964. Principal Mike Schabert spoke prior to the Conferring of Diplomas. Co-Valedictorians Breana Panaguiton and Tian Walker, along with Salutatorian D’Ante Brown, each gave a stirring and well conceived address to their classmates and the audience.
Prior to the close of the ceremony, the announcement was made regarding the recipients of the prestigious Cardinal William Joseph Levada and The Immaculate Heart of Mary Awards given annually to the Senior Man and Senior Woman of the Year. Congratulations to Dolan Kay and Breana Panaguiton!!!
