Admission to the Youth Leadership Long Beach Program is highly competitive. Each year, dozens of sophomore and junior students from Long Beach area high schools apply for admission to this free nine month leadership development program, but only 25 are selected. Students begin their year with a weekend retreat and attend monthly training sessions on Saturdays designed to raise awareness about issues facing our City, including governance, education, health, law enforcement and the media. St. Anthony’s students are highly valued and recognized for their character and enthusiasm as participants in this prestigious program. Certainly graduation from this Leadership Long Beach-sponsored program represents a great accomplishment to list on any college application, but more importantly, it represents a courageous outreach to our community and a commitment to personal growth. Congratulations to these students and their parents! Congratulations also to Senior Ryan Feltz, graduate of the Youth Leadership Long Beach Class of 2009. Ryan was selected to serve as a co-leader for this year’s YLLB Program! We are so proud of our St. Anthony SAINTS!
