Seniors, along with family and friends, gathered this evening to celebrate their new class rings with our traditional Blessing of the Rings held in St. Anthony parish church.
Fr. John Sigler, chaplain at nearby St. Mary Medical Center, officiated. The Gospel of Luke identifying the lost son who returned to the father and was given a ring was highlighted in Fr. John's homily. The traditional blessing and distribution to the seniors followed.
Fr. John joined Ms. Marciea Ball, Activities Director, to distribute the rings. Father closed with a blessing to all and Principal Mike Schabert offered closing remarks on the honor and significance of the St. Anthony ring and appreciation to the parents, family and friends.
Beginning with the Class of 2011 (our current juniors), rings will be distributed in the spring. If your son/daughter is a junior you'll want to watch for ring information that will be available from Herff Jones (the sole provider of SAHS rings) in early December.
