Two notable organizations, the Ayn Rand Foundation and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, are sponsoring essay contests for high school students.
The Ayn Rand essay contest is open to 8th, 9th and 10th graders who must select one of three topic choices and write an essay between 600 to 1,200 words in length, with the deadline date of March 20, 2010.
The essay topic for 11th and 12th graders must be between 800 and 1,600 words, and is due by April 26, 2010.

The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation contest is open to students from 9th through 12th grades who must write an original and creative essay of less than 1,000 words that demonstrates political courage.
